Pomegranate Micro-Shorts
Festival 2012
DEADLINE: April 15, 2012
The month of April marks remembrance days for
the Holocaust, the Rwandan Genocide and the Armenian
Genocide. It is a month that focuses attention not
just on these genocides but all others - past,
present and future - and what we can do to stop
them.
We are interested in any film on the
theme of intolerance.
This year, we are
encouraging filmmakers to use the theme of The
Eyewitness - films based on the point of view of
someone who has experienced intolerance or who has a
connection to a victim of intolerance. Topics can
include bullying, racism, social out-casting,
religious intolerance, Holocaust and genocide
awareness.
Statistics show the worst bullying
in schools occurs where students do not intervene.
Students know the difference between standing by and
doing nothing - being a "bystander" - and stepping
up and saying 'no' - being an "upstander." Films
about upstanders and bystanders are perfect for this
Competition.
Be creative. Show us what you
can do - in ten minutes or less.

The best films will take the
inspiration offered by the month of April and tell a
story which helps us understand this problem. You
may be inspired by someone in your family who has
experienced this issue - directly or indirectly. You
may be inspired by someone you have read or heard
about - from history or current events. You may want
to explore the difference between "upstanders" and
"bystanders." You may have experienced bullying,
discrimination or intolerance yourself - or want to
tell a story about someone who has. You may want to
dramatize an aspect of any of these issues. It's up
to you - this is your chance to make a difference.
Your film can be live action, animation,
documentary, or any other genre, even a mix of media
-- as long as it is by you!
Winning Videos
will be showcased on Pomegranate's website and
dedicated Facebook and YouTube pages. |
